Statement by Interim Liberal Leader Bob Rae on Labour Day

TORONTO— Liberal Leader Bob Rae made the following statement today on Labour Day:

“Across the country today Canadians are celebrating Labour Day. This long weekend represents for many the opportunity to come together with friends and family to enjoy the last of summer, as it quickly draws to a close.

In addition to the festivities, we reflect on the meaning of Labour Day. This first Monday of September, which we have been celebrating for more than 100 years, is a time to consider the men and women who built our country, and who had the courage to stand up for their rights and the rights of all Canadian workers.

On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, I wish all Canadians a wonderful Labour Day.”
