I wanted to respond to this Facebook posting from the Liberal Renaissance Group as I have a daughter in Dubai, and there is an assumption that Canadian values are globally equal:
As for “New Canadians”, I am optimistic and have immense faith in their ability to discern what Harper is all about … And I also don’t think we should make the mistake of thinking they are a “monolith” to be manipulated by any political party … If anything, this is what they’ve come to Canada to leave behind.
Many nationalities, especially from that part of the world (the mideast etc), don’t even understand what that means (Canadian values). The people, they are in contact with, are trying to get through the day: tomorrow doesn’t exist. They have no dreams, just came to Canada to survive.
Democracy isn’t why they came to Canada and the Conservatives know it. They settle in large groups in sufficient numbers to sway a riding. Easy pickings for the conservatives, especially when the Conservative party has no problem waving their power over their lives.
My Joe Public posting, was trying to point this out. I am an optimist: “the right will prevail,” has nothing to do with it.
The Conservatives have changed the game, the game is propaganda like Canadians have never experienced before.
Opposition parties, better change their strategies before its to late.
The 200 people that protested in Ottawa, should of been 10 of thousands, like you see on TV in other countries. But if that was the case, we wouldn’t have elected a conservative government in the first place.
